Partner with Brothers in Arms: Pioneering Digital Preventative Infrastructure
We don’t catch men when they fall. We walk shoulder-to-shoulder with them daily, so they never lose their footing.
Brothers in Arms is Scotland’s digital-first charity dedicated to life preservation, not suicide prevention. After four years of intensive research and development, we engineered and launched Blethr—a new class of non-clinical, upstream preventative technology designed specifically to support men’s emotional wellbeing.
By bypassing traditional clinical barriers and the transactional logic of standard wellness apps, Blethr provides men with an unmonitored "safe container" to self-manage distress before it escalates into clinical risk. (Watch our intro video below)
Who We Partner With
- NHS Commissioners & Public Health Boards: Blethr is built as a complementary, non-clinical entry point. It acts as a digital buffer against stigma, building a user’s emotional granularity and psychological flexibility privately. This lowers the emotional threshold for men, preparing them to eventually seek professional or peer support when they are ready.
- Corporate HR & Workplace Wellness Leaders: Bring the ultimate mental fitness companion to your workforce. Blethr offers employees a private space to "clear the noise" and align their quiet inner thoughts with their busy outer roles. This mitigates burnout and stress without the risk of employer surveillance or data tracking.
- Philanthropists & Social Impact Donors: Every donation directly funds the maintenance and optimisation of Blethr's anonymous infrastructure. You aren't just funding app maintenance; you are backing a pioneering R&D project that has successfully reached a 70:30 male-to-female adoption ratio.
The Clinical & Technological Rigour Under the Hood
Blethr is fundamentally different from commercial AI chatbots and clinical "therapy wrappers". Underneath its warm, simple "front door" sits a robust, highly sophisticated technical architecture co-developed with renowned leadership and organisational psychologist Ian McLaren Wallace:
- The 109,490-Word Circumplexicon: Rather than pathologising men with static diagnostic labels, we mapped a corpus of 109,490 words circumferentially from the Oxford Corpus. This circular sense-making framework maps a man's vocabulary as dynamic vectors, ensuring we meet him exactly where he is, regardless of how messy or incomplete his thoughts feel.
- The Recursive Neural Tensor Network (RNTN): Instead of unconstrained generative text, Blethr's linguistic engine uses a specialised mathematical RNTN model. It is engineered to process compositionality—decoding the emotional tension in physically embodied metaphors (like "hitting a wall" or "blowing a fuse") and translating them into practical, real-world action.
- On-Device Data Sovereignty as Clinical Infrastructure: To solve the "digital stigma paradox" and prevent surveillance anxiety, Blethr is designed as an offline-first Progressive Web Application (PWA). No login, no central accounts, and no server-side tracking. Everything a man types is processed and stored strictly in his device’s local browser memory.
- The Dynamic Valuing Loop: Instead of commercial "engagement bias" that traps users in negative thought loops for screen time, Blethr uses a disciplined, structured 4-step gearbox: Name It, Own It, Choose It, Use It. It is designed to build self-management agency and return men to their lives in the real world.
